Bluescreek Announces New Chef and Cafe

Bluescreek Farm Meats recently announced the addition of Chef Spencer Haney and the opening of a new cafe. Bluescreek, a former vendor for the North Market, opened their stand-alone location in Spring of this year and established their own market with local sources.

Their new cafe features items like lamb shank and lamb autumn burger, as well a house burger, turkey club, fried chicken sandwich, and an assortment of baked goods made from scratch. Seasonal soups, including pumpkin and butternut squash are also offered.

The menu items are executed by Haney, who’s a native of Grandview Heights and has experience in catering and “French rustic farm-to-table” cooking.

“Spencer shares in our philosophy of providing a quality dining experience using only the finest meats and ingredients,” said Jamie Johnson, director of marketing for Bluescreek Farm Meats and Market.

The new cafe will be open Tuesday through Friday, 10 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 to 5 p.m. It’s located at 8120 US 42, 10 minutes from Dublin.

Zoup! location opening in Arena District

Local Zoup! franchise owners Denis and Poonam Barboza open the doors tomorrow on their second location and Columbus’ fifth location of the fast-casual soup shop.

The five year-old company is targeting Ohio for more restaurants, according to a press release. This one will be in the Arena district, at 155 West Nationwide Boulevard and will employ 17 team members.

After their grand opening they’ll host a fundraiser and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to BuddyUp, a tennis program for children with Down Syndrome. A $5 donation earns a bowl of soup, side of bread and a fountain drink.

“I hope lots of folks turn out to enjoy some delicious soup and help us make a meaningful difference in the lives of the very special kids they serve,” said Denis Barboza.

The fundraiser will run through regular business hours, which are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Land-Grant to Open at Airport

Local Land-Grant Brewing Company is set to open at the Columbus International Airport with a new brand designed by HMS Host. The rebrand is one of several in the plans for the company designed to bring food to airports and other travel waypoints.

Through a contract extension awarded to them by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, HMS Host is set to recreate and open five existing businesses in the airport with new brands.

“The Airport Authority is pleased to be collaborating with HMS Host on these exciting restaurant plans, including the addition of Land-Grant Brewing, another hometown favorite,” said Elaine Roberts, President and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, in a press release.

Land-Grant will still have their beers on an eight-beer tap system. Their popular items, including Stiff Arm IPA and the Greenskeeper Session IPA, are among them. A menu created by HMS Host chefs will be offered.

Land-Grant will be located in Concourse B and will open “later this year.” The rest of the projects will finish some time between January of 2017 and December of 2018.
