ZenCha Tea Salon Closes on Gay Street

Downtown workers and customers have probably already noticed the dark windows and shuttered doors at ZenCha Tea Salon, which closed at the beginning of this week. No advance notice was given, but the business has been listed for sale for several months.

We are closing ZenCha at the Downtown location for good,” explained I-Cheng Huang, Executive Managing Officer of ZenCha. “Our lease already expired, and we are relocating to another state, hence the decision.”

The 19 East Gay Street location originally opened in the summer of 2012, and while it was not as busy as the more popular Short North location, it became well known as a destination for bubble tea and weekend brunch.

The Short North location remains open, but is also listed for sale. The Bexley location was sold to new owners in September 2014 and is no longer affiliated with the original owners.
