    Yoga Enlarged Promotes Yoga for Every Body

    “This is Yoga by Big Bodies for Big Bodies,” sums up the excellent yoga here in Columbus by Yoga Enlarged.

    Joyce Eubanks and Angie Hay felt the sting of the “Should you be here?” look too often in yoga classes due to their generous curves, so they wanted a special-sized yoga class “where we can be safe and not be judged.” They also created a yoga program prescribed for the plus-sized because, “We understand that things have to be moved out of the way, or in a certain way when you are a certain size, … we know!”

    For the past 18 months, Angie and Joyce have held donation-based -that is, pay-what-you-can, classes at the Replenish Spa Co-op property downtown at 124 S. Washington. Their classes have steadily become more popular, and they just increased their classes to 3 times a week. Also, they have started doing specialty workshops, such as one on inversions, and having fun “silhouette” photo sessions.

    The Replenish Spa is an oasis of calm near the back edge of the topiary garden behind the Main Library downtown.

    “This is a great location – with lots of free parking,” said Hay when I visited her before recently. “The owners here have been very welcoming and generous to us.”

    Yoga classes are held in a renovated carriage house which features exposed brickwork and lots of soft woods. It is a quiet, space with a very green lawn and garden surrounding it. There are designated Replenish parking spots and there is parking after 5 p.m. in the Motorists lot adjacent to the property. The spa owners believe in balancing work and family, so sometimes there is free childcare in a playroom upstairs.

    Yoga Enlarged allows you to pay what you want. Yoga should be for every body!
