    Worthington Square Mall was a popular place to shop and hang out in the mid-1990s.

    That’s not the case these days, as large sections are devoid of tenants and shoppers. Now the suburb’s leaders are calling the mall’s California-based owner an “absentee landlord” and have challenged Stanford Management Co. to take action. Promises of “turning the corner” have gone unfulfilled for five years, City Councilman Mike Duffey said.
