    Winans Closing Downtown Location

After three years, Winans Chocolates + Coffees will close its Downtown location at 216 S. High St. at Highpoint on Columbus Commons.

Friday, August 7 is the last day for the Piqua-based coffee shop which also offers chocolates and wine. The location has seen major impacts due to the coronavirus.

“The Highpoint location was established three years ago and had been doing a steady volume of business prior to COVID-19, but with new work-from-home models, traffic declined to the point that continued operation at this location has become impractical,” said Laurie Winans Reiser, Winans owner and operator. “It’s a hard decision to make because the store is beautifully appointed and serves an area of downtown with fine chocolates, coffees and a wine bar unlike any other. We will miss our customers and hope they find their way to one of our other Columbus stores.”

Winans operates three additional locations in Central Ohio – a shop at Grandview Yard, 1125 Yard St., which opened in April 2019, in German Village at 897 S. Third St. and Dublin at 52 S. High St.

Winans hopes to place its Downtown employees with the other Central Ohio locations.
