Wild Goose Creative (WGC) has announced the signing of a new space in Franklinton at 188 S. McDowell St. The community arts organization has resided at 2491 Summit St. in SoHud (South of Hudson) since 2008, but says it can and wants to do more.
Among WGC’s plans are providing more space for new and ongoing programming; supporting more expansive art installations, performances and other media; and creating a brand new lounge for members to meet, work and converse.
WGC says there is a need to better serve the community, and this expansion will help make that possible.
“Wild Goose has been going strong since 2006 as a catalyst for exciting and surprising art, conversation, community-building, and has always attracted creative people to take risks and experiment here,” said Wild Goose Creative co-founder Jessie Boettcher in a press announcement. “Wild Goose’s heart for creativity in Columbus and the strength of its partnerships will mean that it keeps contributing to our city well into the future.”
Wild Goose Creative joins a long list of arts organizations and creative spaces in Franklinton. Through partnership and programming, says the organization, it will create new programs with existing businesses and community leaders.
“I am absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to work with Wild Goose Creative on developing a new space within the Franklinton Arts District,” said Chris Sherman, project manager at 400 W. Rich. “Continuing to work on creative and art-focused projects within the district is a passion of mine, and I believe that WGC is the perfect fit into this artistic puzzle of east Franklinton.”
