If you feel like celebrating some local creative culture this week, you’re in luck. The next Pecha Kucha Columbus takes place on Wednesday night at the Wexner Center for the Arts’ Performance Space. Doors open at 7:00 and presentations begin at 7:30. The program is hosted by GenWex, the center’s young patrons group, and OSU’s Digital Union, as part of the Year of eLearning.

Each presenter will follow the international Pecha Kucha format of showing 20 images and speaking about each image for 20 seconds. Presenters include Donnie Austin from House Wine; architect Bradley Blumensheid; David Clarkson with the Historic Old Oaks Neighborhood; Wexner Center educator Dionne Custer; Trisha Dehnbostel with Local Matters; Nicholas Dekker from Breakfast With Nick; Evelyn Ebert from the Economic and Community Development Institute (ECDI); entrepreneur Wolf Starr; and Steve Weaver from The Candle Lab. Please note that this event takes place on a Wednesday even though typical Pecha Kucha Columbus events are held on Thursdays.

Eric Nassau will perform during intermission. Taste of Belgium, the Wexner Center’s new café vendor, will provide refreshments and a cash bar will be available. Scott Vayo of BPM Productions will deejay the event. The suggested donation is $2 per person, benefiting Pecha Kucha Columbus. Parking is available at the Arps and Union garages.

Pecha Kucha was founded in Tokyo in 2003 as a way for designers to meet and share their work in public. It has morphed into a massive celebration with events in more than 360 cities around the world. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for “the sound of conversation,” it rests on a simple and momentum-driven presentation format: 20 images x 20 seconds. Pecha Kucha Columbus was formed by a group of designers and community members in February of 2007. This will be the group’s 15th event and the next one will take place in February.
