Welcome to the New & Improved Columbus Underground
It’s been exactly two and a half years since the last relaunch of Columbus Underground, so we’re overdue for a makeover. Today, we’re unveiling that makeover.
There’s a few small new features you’ll find here and there, but our primary goal with this redesign was to reorganize content in a more easy-to-find fashion. Our featured content will be more prominently displayed on the front page in a “magazine layout” before showing chronological updates below in our archives. Social sharing is now made easier with a new toolbar that connects our content with Facebook, Twitter and other networks. Additionally, TheMetropreneur.com is now integrated as the “Business” page of Columbus Underground, providing updates on our local entrepreneurial and small business community.
Over the course of the next month, you’ll see the results of our new editorial calendar with a new focus on monthly and weekly features in addition to regular news updates. That includes new lifestyle content, expert opinion articles from community leaders, new weekly in-house restaurant reviews, top 10 lists and more. We listened to the great feedback that was provided in our most recent reader survey and we’re delivering the content that you requested.
Additionally, we’ve completed a lot of boring technology updates on the back end of our business, which includes newer versions of our content management system, a new ad delivery system and the migration to a new server. This shouldn’t mean a whole lot for the average reader, but it will help us to streamline and speed up a lot of our internal processes so that we can make more time for more exciting things.
This new software will also allow us to roll out new features over the next few months. Stay tuned for our new event calendar system, an enhanced mobile experience, and new ways to explore local real estate listings.
And last but not least… have a Happy Fourth of July!
