For their December wedding, the couple went for traditional and timeless. The couple had a traditional Indian wedding at the Bharatiya Hindu temple, and a 1920s Gatsby styled reception at the North Bank Pavilion.

“The temple felt very peaceful and it was low key,” she says. “It was a setting where we could feel close to our family and friends.”

When the couple was living in the Discovery District, they would often take bicycle rides along the river that would take them past North Bank Pavilion.

“We always found the building very beautiful and wondered what it was used for,” she says. “Once we found out we could rent it we knew we wanted to have our reception there. We love the memories that come back to us about Columbus and bike riding and going for walks by the pavilion each time we see it.”

The couple met while finishing post graduate training at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

While looking for wedding inspiration, she saw a Gatsby inspired wedding invitation in a magazine and loved it.

“That’s where the whole idea started,” she says.

The theme carried through from her amazing sparkly dress, to the table settings, to the place cards, her hair, and more.

For the traditional ceremony, he wore a traditional Indian sherwani. She dressed in a traditional Indian wedding dress with vintage Indian embroidery. Stylist James Cunningham did her hair in a wide bun that would hold her sari for the ceremony, then for the evening reception, he transformed her hair to a 1920s style accentuated with a feather.

Many wonderful memories were created that day, with the couple surrounded by their close friends and family.

“We had a very small wedding with less than 50 guests,” she says. “We loved that we were able to spend lots of time with all of our friends and family and really enjoy each and every moment.”

The couple honeymooned in Australia for two weeks, the February after the wedding.
