Meredith Joy and Michael Reed married last August 3rd at Via Vecchia Winery in the Brewery District. It was a beautiful, though slightly windy evening, and the lights strung across the alley sparkled, almost as brightly as the bride’s and groom’s smiles.
“We met randomly through a mutual acquaintance at the Press Grille,” remembers Joy. “At the end of the evening he said “Give me your number because we’re going out on Tuesday” and I thought it was very sexy of him to be so bold -so I said “OK…but we need to make it Wednesday because I’m busy on Tuesday.” Then he walked me home and we met up for our first date at Basi Italia the following week and were married seven years to the date after that!”
For the wedding, Joy had been looking for a space that was super easy and Via Vecchia rose to the top of her list.
“Via Vecchia was easy in so many ways,” says Joy. “The owners are really friendly and chill, the space is beautiful already so I didn’t have to plan for lots of decoration, they have a flat rate and it’s relatively inexpensive, their exclusive caterer happens to be delish and kind of doubles as a wedding planner, their wine is fantastic, I could have the ceremony and reception in one place within the city…it was just a really smooth experience and I never regretted my choice.”
The bride wore a Badgley Mischka wedding gown with slight sweetheart neckline and a removable full tulle skirt. The smaller gown underneath features beaded detailing.
The decor was focused on light and mirrors and based on the Velvet Underground’s song “I’ll Be Your Mirror.”
“That song slays me every time!” says Joy. “Just the idea that in love we are meant to reflect back for one another the essential truth of who we are, and guide one another home. It’s beautiful.”
After the wedding, the couple honeymooned for a week in Niagara Falls and Toronto.
