NYC-based eyewear company Warby Parker will soon be launching their first Ohio retail store with a Short North location in the works. The store will be located at 601 North High Street, formerly home to Le Chocoholique, which closed its doors in October 2017.
The company is best known for its try-before-you-buy purchasing structure, and its buy-one-give-one social enterprise model, which provides eyeglasses to those in need through nonprofit VisionSpring.
Warby Parker currently operates over 60 retail locations across the US and Canada, with new locations also planned to open in Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, Sacramento, Detroit, Denver and Washington DC in 2018.
The retail growth represents a change for the company that primarily does business online. In 2011, Warby Parker debuted in the Short North at now-closed boutique Milk Bar, which served as a showroom for the brand while orders were placed online and received in the mail.
No comments about the store or its planned grand opening have been issued by Warby Parker officials as of the time of this article’s publishing.
