View on Grant Apartment Development Gets Further Updates

While construction work has already begun on the View on Grant apartment project in Downtown Columbus, the building plans are continuing to see some revisions. When the project was first proposed over a year ago, it included an addition on the north side of the building, which was later removed during the design revision process. That north addition is now back on the drawing board, and was reviewed by the Downtown Commission this morning.

“We considered adding more residential units to the eighth floor, replacing some amenity space, and wouldn’t need the extra leasable area in the north addition,” explained project architect Jonathan Barnes. “But then we realized that we had to decrease the total area of the eighth floor and needed to keep the north addition.”

Barnes stated that the changes don’t really effect the overall square footage of the building, nor are they expected to affect the construction timeline. Once completed, the View on Grant will be home to 80 new apartment units as well as a ground-floor cafe retail space, an indoor parking garage and outdoor patio amenities on the top floor additions.

Additional architectural elements such as lighting and window treatments were also discussed during today’s meeting. All updates were approved by the Commission.
