VIDEO: ECT Pedicabs Celebrates 10 Years
Jason Biundo of ECT Pedicab recently celebrated 10 years of the business that started as a venture with business partner and fellow Mikey’s Late Night Slice founder Mikey Sorboro. Sorboro got the idea after returning to Columbus from an extended vacation and raving about the pedicabs he saw in San Diego. They eventually decided to start a pedicab business of their own, starting with five cabs operating in the Short North.
Fast forward to today, and co-owners Biundo and Ryan Craig have helped lead the legitimization of pedicabs in Columbus. ECT worked with the City of Columbus to instill regulations and eliminate some of the unsafe pedicab companies operating in the city. “Pretty much overnight, all of the unsafe pedicabs and drivers disappeared,” Biundo says.
Developments in the Short North and Downtown have also increased pedicab customers; what is a headache for Downtown travels has become good fortune for ECT.
”The way Park Street is kind of evolving, it’s not going to be an entertainment district as much anymore,” Biundo says. “But with all the hotels and condos going in—more density, more people that want rides.”

For Biundo, ECT is much more than a business venture, but a passion. He now loves cycling and credits it for inspiring a major change in his physical health.
“Pedicabbing saved my life, technically. When we first started, I lost 40 pounds in that first summer,” says Biundo. “I love what they offer the city. I love how it’s changed my life.”
“And the fact that people talk about pedicabs they took when they visited Columbus,” he continues, “Columbus in becoming more and more of a vacation city, and we’re thrilled to be a part of people’s experiences.”
In the video above, Columbus Underground chatted with Biundo about the changes in Columbus over the last decade as ECT prepped to work Rock on the Range and supplied rides during a James Taylor concert at the Schottenstein Center.
