Via Vecchia Winery and event venue is on the move.

After eight years on Front Street in the Brewery District, the business will move just one mile south into a larger facility at The Fort, 2108 S. High St.

In all, the new venue offers 20,000 square feet and enough seating for 225 people between its indoor and outdoor spaces.

Inside is a main level as well as a mezzanine with soft seating, a catering kitchen, a guest nursing room, and a bridal suite/prep room. Via Vecchia owner Michael Elmer says they’ll be shaking off the rustic aesthetic of their Front Street location for a more industrial/glam feel for their interior at The Fort.

Outside is a covered patio and an open courtyard stretching over 14,000 square feet. Elmer envisions it being used for ceremonies, lawn games, outdoor dining and large community events.

“What will make this place unique is the massive courtyard with the close proximity to the city,” Elmer says. “Previously, we helped revitalize the Brewery District. So now, we hope to do the same at The Fort.”

Catering menus will be executed by Via Vecchia’s catering partners, Milo’s Catering and Creative Cuisine, each offering a wide range of items.

The winery itself will have a temporary production space in the building across the parking lot, at 2050 S. High St. In 2020, it’ll swap into a more permanent location in the building adjacent to the right of the event venue.

The winery is booking tours and tastings now for 2019, and events in the new venue will begin in May of 2019.
