Owner Valter Veliu signed a 10-year lease with the Columbus Maennerchor, who currently operate out of the renovated German Heritage House at 976 S. High Street. In addition to Valter’s, Veliu partially owns and manages German Village restaurant Jimmy V’s Grill and Pub.

The German restaurant’s menu will place a heavy focus on breakfast, featuring dishes like homemade wheat pancakes, an omelette made with traditional German sausage, and a Berlin breakfast sandwich, consisting of bologna, egg, mustard and onion on a traditional pretzel bun.

The lunch and dinner menu features a large number of traditional German dishes, including schnitzel, brats, pork shank, sauerkraut balls and herring dip. A to-be-announced local bakery will be baking the bread. Most entrees will run you around $10.

The traditional German beer garden planned for the adjoining patio is still a ways from opening. Veliu is awaiting approval from the Brewery District Commission, but intends to begin construction in March. An overhead trellis will be installed, with grape vines planted to provide overhead shade to sizable community tables in the warmer months.

The Maennerchor itself will only be in the building once a week, practicing on Tuesdays from 6 – 9 p.m. The kitchen will be open daily, 10 a.m. – midnight, with the bar open until 2 a.m.
