SeeSaw Winding Down, New Bar to Take Over Short North Space

SeeSaw’s days at 906 N. High St. are numbered, as the bar and restaurant will wind down operations later this summer to make way for Good Night John Boy.

FHG describes the ’70s-themed Good Night John Boy as a cross between your grandparents’ funky basement and Studio 54. A straight-forward drink menu will fuel late-night dancing on the bar’s LED-lit dance floor. Nostalgia will continue in the food department with a menu of “elevated Happy Meals and TV dinners.”

Soon, Columbus will be one of four Good Night John Boy locations for FHG. The bar opened its first spot in Cleveland, with locations in Chicago and St. Petersburg, Florida soon to follow. Cleveland’s menu touts bottle service, a handful of signature cocktails and shots, as well as the champagne of beers, Miller High Life, in sizes from 7 to 40 ounces.

It will be a round two of sorts for FHG, Good Night John Boy and Columbus. The concept was initially attached to a space at the Gateway in the University District in 2018, but that location never opened.

SeeSaw opened its doors in the Short North in September 2019. FHG partnered with well-known Cleveland-area Chef Jonathan Sawyer on the initial menu. In early 2020, Sawyer closed his other restaurants and filed for bankruptcy just before the pandemic upended the industry.

Short North is the sole SeeSaw location in the hospitality group’s portfolio. FGH also owns and operates Flip Side at Easton.
