BrewDog is still on track to open their large-scale Canal Winchester brewery this summer, according to a new blog update posted on the company’s website today.
Additionally, the company announced that their search for a spot to open a local bar in Columbus has been narrowed down to an individual neighborhood: East Franklinton. The exactly location has not yet been revealed, but is likely to be announced within the next couple weeks.
“We are conducting due diligence on a few options right now,” explained BrewDog Expansion Matriarch Katie Murphy. “We can’t share any additional details just yet. Hopefully we will have the details worked out and ready to announce within the next month.”
While East Franklinton has quickly become known as a hotspot for the creative class at 400 West Rich, the Columbus Idea Foundry and the Ethical Arts Collective, it’s also gained its fair share of bars over the past several years, including Strongwater, Land Grant Brewing and the Rehab Tavern, so BrewDog should fit right in. Additionally, large-scale development projects have been proposed for East Franklinton, which would bring hundreds of new residents and customers to area businesses, although construction has not yet started on any of the announced projects.
“I think Brew Dog will be a great fit in Franklinton,” said Jim Sweeney, Executive Director of the Franklinton Development Association.
