V Power Yoga Moving to New Downtown Location

“Bye, bye Miss American Pie…” sang the playlist during savasana at Lisa Paquette’s last yoga class for V Power Yoga at its current location, 252 N. Fifth St. Students could smile happily and enjoy the music thinking about how V Power will be re-opening soon nearby.

“I am looking forward to the next adventure,” Paquette told her many dedicated students.

For over 13 years, Paquette and other V Power Yoga teachers, such as Sally Walsh Roberts and Felicity Hillmer, have taught thousands of Columbus-ites a fun, fast version of power yoga. With her lilting voice and very helpful instructions, Paquette has been a favorite teacher, as well as the sole-owner of V Power Yoga since co-owner Erin Lombardo left in May 2018.

“Lisa made me fall in love with yoga; I’ve come here for over three years; I am so happy to hear that they are moving and not closing,” were some remarks from V Power Yoga students on June 30, the last day at the 252 N. Fifth St. V Power location. Facing an increase in the rent, and loss of the parking lot on North Fifth Street, Paquette had to scramble and nearly closed the studio.

“I spent hours and hours looking at spaces. They were mostly way too big or unfinished and needing extensive renovations,” she said.

Paquette has been teaching at V Power Yoga since it was started by Julie Verhoff Pipes in 2005. V Power Yoga was a pioneer of hot, powerful yoga in Columbus. Based on Rocket Yoga, the classes give a great core workout as well as tests to one’s mental and physical flexibility. When Verhoff Pipes moved to Florida, the studio passed to Jill Endres and Erin Lombardo who continued to have the challenging, fun classes V-Power was known for. Verhoff Pipes continues to visit V Power as a special guest.

Paquette is looking forward to V Power’s new space at 243 N. Fifth St.

“The building has lots of great character! There are real hardwood floors, some exposed brick, and a fun, artistic vibe,” she said.

Parking for the new location will be at lots and on-street nearby.

“It will be a race to get it ready, so probably we will have just a few classes in the first week.”

    V Power Yoga re-opens at 243 N. Fifth St. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 4:45 p,m. For more information, visit vpoweryoga.com.
