The Fresh Market, a North Carolina-based gourmet supermarket chain, announced it will close its sole Columbus store at 1920 W. Henderson Rd.
The company says that after an organizational analysis of the store, in which it evaluated area competition and potential long-term growth, that it decided not to renew its lease for 2020. The store’s official closing will be in mid-October.
Last year, the chain closed 15 stores in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin, also after evaluating overall growth and long-term performance. At the time, the company said it did not foresee any future store closures.
The Fresh Market has four remaining stores in Ohio: two in Cincinnati, one in West Chester, and one in Toledo.
