    Neighbors have blasted Bob Long’s five-story, 56-unit Arlington Crossing condominiums, across from Kingsdale Shopping Center, as too close to the street and too big for the neighborhood. The project replaced duplexes and apartments on Tremont Road.

    But the condos are popular compared with his proposed office building down the road on Tremont. That project angered residents in the two surrounding subdivisions so much that they’re trying to place a referendum on the ballot to stop it.

    Long is a reflection of his suburb’s crossroads. City officials say Upper Arlington needs a giant injection of economic development to support growing service and infrastructure demands. But the city is about 95 percent residential, with virtually no place to grow.
