Edith Espinal, an undocumented resident of Columbus who’s been in sanctuary at Columbus Mennonite Church, marked her 500th day in sanctuary on Valentine’s Day. Living inside a church, unable to leave for groceries, a date with her husband, or to visit her son when he was in the hospital last year has taken a toll on Espinal, but she says the support of her community has given her hope. CU sat down with Espinal to discuss her strategy for obtaining citizenship going forward, part of which involves a resolution passing by City Council later this month. Listen in on the interview for more information.
