Michael’s Goody Boy Diner, located at 1144 N. High St. in the Short North, is now under new ownership. Corso Ventures, the parent company of Forno Kitchen & Bar, Short North Food Hall, Standard Hall and Short North Pint House, has purchased the property. The restaurant will close on Jan. 2, 2019 for renovations.

Although there will be some cosmetic changes, the Goody Boy Diner name and concept will remain, says Justin Kintz, Director of Marketing for Corso Ventures.

“It’s just changing hands,” Kintz says. “We’re not planning on tearing down the building, it’ll just be an enhancement of what is currently going on at Goody Boy.”

Michael’s Goody Boy Diner was established in 1947, by Michael Pappas. It’s been bought and sold several times, with Jim Velio (Jimmy V’s Grill and Pub) purchasing the property in 2009. The restaurant was closed for renovations from 2009 to 2011, during which Velio added a patio, expanded the interior seating capacity, and restored the iconic neon sign. Velio is still a partner in the business.

A reopening date has not been set. Kintz says more information will be available within the next several weeks.
