Under New Ownership, Bar 145 Rebrands to Sammy’s on 5th

Bar 145 at 955 W. Fifth Ave. has transitioned into Sammy’s on 5th, as its new owners take the restaurant in a new direction.

Originally part of a franchise anchored in Toledo, Bar 145 was sold this year to owner Michelle Byers. She said she was given a choice in keeping the Bar 145 moniker but opted out. They’ll hold onto the burgers and live musical acts at the core of the previous bar and add more diverse food and drink menus.

“Instead of just being bourbon, burgers and music, we’ve added more food, a vegan menu,” Byers says. “I moved here from Charlotte, North Carolina, so we’re adding some southern charm to the menu, some recipes that I used in Charlotte.”

Homemade pimento cheese and guacamole dips will grace the menu, as well as a “touch of Nashville” with the addition of hot chicken. The new menu will be ready by September 1.

Bar 145 opened its one and only central Ohio location in 2013. The rebranding of this location leaves just two in the state, in Toledo and Dayton.
