Two new apartment buildings have opened Downtown, bringing another 173 units onto the market.

An official grand opening is planned for next month at 223 East Town, a five-story, 84-unit building that sits next to the Holiday Inn. A handful of leases have already been signed, according to Ted Orr, Director of Development Experience at Crawford Hoying, who is developing the project along with Bluestone Brothers.

Prices for the apartments range from $1,075 per month for a 602-square-foot studio to a little over $2,300 for a 1,300-square-foot, two-bedroom unit. A first-floor parking garage in the building has room for 83 cars.

Orr said that a tenant for the ground-floor restaurant space in the building has been lined up and will open early next year (look for an announcement soon identifying the user).

At the corner of South Front and West Main streets, Borror Properties’ 303 South Front Street project is also open for business.

“We moved our first residents in November 1,” said Jeff Baur, Executive Vice President of Development for Borror. “The response has been great.”

The 89-unit project features studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, with rents ranging from $995 for a 445-square-foot studio to $2,295 for a two-bedroom unit that is just over 1,000 square feet.

Borror Properties revised the design of the building in late 2015, taking away a floor of parking to add more apartments.

“We have three parking options, including 35 on-site spaces and two options in close proximity,” said Baur. “Parking has not been an issue with prospective residents.”

Borror Properties recently announced plans to build a second apartment project Downtown, on East State Street.
