Treat to Try: Danish from Eleni-Christina Bakery

Have you made it over to the newly open for retail Eleni-Christina Bakery? They posted a photo on their Facebook fan page of freshly made danish yesterday and I couldn’t resist. I grew up having danish as a special treat, and came to love it for the fillings. While the fillings in Eleni-Christina Bakery’s are good, I think you will come to love the bread part more. I did!

I tried a Lemon Curd Danish and a Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish. (The lemon curd also had a bit of cream cheese in the filling). Each danish was roughly five inches across and a half inch tall and the fillings were about two and half inches in the center. They are priced at $3.50 each. The lemon curd was tart, but not mouth-puckering so and the cream cheese helped to balance that out. The strawberry and cream cheese was sweet. They don’t have any frosting on them, and you don’t even miss it. The outer ring of bread is deliciously buttery and crispy and the inner rings are wonderfully chewy. My mouth is already watering  just thinking about them! Enjoy!

Eleni-Christina Bakery is located at 641 N. High St. Suite 107, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Open Thursday through Saturday from 9am-3pm. Visit them on Facebook.
