New cupcakery Tin Bakery opened in Upper Arlington in the fall. This little place recently received some press, so I went there to check it out. The store is beautifully decorated. Rustic woods, a gorgeous red-orange glass tiled wall, and plenty of seats to enjoy your treats. I ordered four cupcakes to go. They do look pretty. Clockwise from left, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cookies & Cream (yeah, my little ones love that flavor!) and a Banana with Peanut Butter and crushed peanuts. The carrier is super handy by keeping the cupcakes in place and leaving room to lift them out.
Let’s single out the Chocolate Peanut Butter. It’s a regular sized cupcake, about an inch and a half tall, with about an inch of icing on top. There’s a Whopper painted with peanut butter sitting on top. The chocolate cake very much reminded me of Hershey’s “Perfectly Chocolate” Chocolate Cake. It’s moist on the inside and has a nice crisp on the outside, which allows the paper cupcake wrapper to pull off easily. The peanut butter topping is lightly fluffed and not too sweet. At the price point of $3, I’d love to either see more icing mounded on top of these, or a handmade buckeye adorning the top.
