New Nintendo, Old Wolverine, New Guardians & Old Cowboys

Not a lot of tv show trailers this week, but we’re making up for that with some big movie and video reveals. Oh, and don’t forget about the new video-game-to-movie-crossover as well. Check out the latest and greatest in the world of entertainment in our Trailer Roundup, below:

    Logan

Third time’s the charm, right? Hugh Jackman is back for one final go at Wolverine spin-off, after the two previous iterations (X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009 and The Wolverine in 2013) weren’t quite as successful as planned. This time around, FOX is going the Deadpool route with an R rating, and giving Wolvie a much darker tale to suffer through. If Johnny Cash’s Nine Inch Nails cover is any indicator, we’re in for a depressing ride on March 3rd.

    Nintendo Switch

Nintendo finally unveiled their much-anticipated next system: The Nintendo Switch (previously known with the codename Nintendo NX). The final product is a console/portable hybrid that allows gamers to take the system on the road like a handheld, but also a docking station to connect to the big screen at home. More details are still yet to come ahead of the planned March 2017 launch window.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

Ooga-chaka, Ooga-chaka… yep, the Guardians are back and they’re using the same song from the first movie just to remind you that the gang’s all here. The first sneak peek gives little away in terms of plot, but after 2014’s first outing turned out to be such a surprise hit, everyone’s expectations are set to full blast when it hits theaters on May 5.

    Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games might be best known for their mega-series Grand Theft Auto, but more serious gamers also know them for their acclaimed Red Dead series. The original Red Dead Revolver debuted way back in 2002, with sequel Red Dead Revolver arriving eight years later in 2010. Rockstar finally announced Dead Dead Redemption 2 with a new trailer, which is aiming for a Fall 2017 release for PS4 and Xbox One.

    A Cure for Wellness

The newest film from director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring) is a psychological thriller about a spa treatment center in the Swiss Alps that turns out to be something more sinister. Hits theaters on February 17th.

    Assassins Creed

Uber popular video game Assassins Creed is making the parkour-style jump to the big screen soon, so we’re getting a second look in a new trailer. Can the film adaptation break through the tradition of video game movies almost always sucking? Find out on December 21st.
