The first ever Columbus Open Studio and Stage (COSS) event kicks off this weekend, inviting locals to step inside artist studios and local theaters to experience a unique look at the local creative community.
“Columbus Open Studio and Stage gives people a chance to peek behind the scenes of the creative process, while also providing them with an opportunity to talk with and get to know local artists,” said Jami Goldstein, vice president of marketing, communication and events at the Greater Columbus Arts Council. “This event fits perfectly with the Arts Council’s Art Makes Columbus/Columbus Makes Art marketing campaign, which highlights the incredibly talented artists of our city and introduces new audiences to Columbus’s unique arts scene.”
The tours are self-guided, although many artists and performers will be on hand to interact with visitors throughout the course of the two-day event. Some of the artists who will be showcasing spaces include Laura Alexander, Anita Dawson, Jeff Regensburger, Nikos Rutkowski, Carol Stewart, April Sunami, Roger Williams and more. Venues available for touring include the CD102.5 Big Room, Lincoln Theatre, Ohio Theatre, Palace Theatre and more.
The event takes place all day on Saturday October 8th and Sunday October 9th. Maps of the available spaces to tour can be purchased online for $10 each, or $18 for two, or $35 for four.
