1. Beekman’s Bagel Deli – Tasty steamed bagel sandwiches, and that comfy, hang-around vibe found at all the best indie eateries
2. Braddock’s – Lowcountry-style seafood and awesome oyster stew
3. The Chintz Room – Downtown department stores like Lazarus used to be pretty classy places, with classy eateries, too
4. Dagwoodz – A delicious mashup of retro diner and Short North bar
5. Galaxy Cafe – Fresh Cuban cuisine in Powell (and Grandview). Mmmm … fried plantains
