Here in Columbus, we know how to make a good burger. Dozens of local restaurants have had a solid burger on their menu for decades, but over the past 10 years there’s been a renewed focus on really making burgers go above and beyond being just a staple. And it all boils down to using high quality and fresh ingredients.
At the top of this year’s list, our readers picked Preston’s: A Burger Joint as the number one spot for hamburgers in Columbus. After honing his craft as a pop-up and food truck operation for the first few years, Chef Matthew Heaggans opened his first brick-and-mortar location inside The North Market in late 2020.
The menu at Preston’s is short and sweet. You can stick with the classic smashburger option — topped with onion, pickle, lettuce, cheese an special sauce — or get adventurous with a mushrooms, sambal jam or pastrami bacon with some of the special burgers. Don’t forget the fries and banana pudding!
