2021 was a bumpy year for local restaurants looking to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and with over 100 new restaurants opened, local eaters have more choices than ever before with where to spend their money.
When we surveyed our readers on their favorite restaurants of the year, the number one pick was Chapman’s Eat Market. This newer addition to the Columbus dining scene opened in 2020 in the original Max and Erma’s location in German Village and has quickly made a splash.
At first, the restaurant offered a limited take-out menu with more familiar and accessible comfort food fare before switching gears back to the refined and upscale dining experience it was always meant to be. Don’t just take our readers’ collective words for it. Chapman’s was also recently featured in the New York Times 2021 Restaurant List as one of the Top 50 (and only Ohio entry) places to be excited to dine in the U.S. right now.
