After months of construction, a new taco shop has opened up Downtown. Occupying the space once held by DeNOVO, Tio’s Tacos and Tequila has opened its doors at 201 S. High St.

Tio’s offers a diverse menu anchored by their house specialties, such as their steak vallarta, a grilled rib-eye steak stopped with grilled shrimp, onions, mushrooms and pineapple; their gordo especial, a grilled steak with poblano pepers, pico de gallo and shredded cheese; their enchiladas de lechuga, combining grilled chicken, peppers, onions, tomatoes, “Tio’s sauce,” queso fresco and avocado slices all inside four lettuce wraps; and much more.

Also featured are a variety of appetizers, including a taqueria must-have, queso dip, along with several other dips and a little something for gringos: wings. Their taco choices use base meats that include shredded pork, chicken, steak, chorizo, fish, shrimp, and pork belly.

Tio’s also has a full bar. They operate seven days a week, open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
