With the national economy in difficult straits and the global economy headed toward an unsteady future, this holiday season will provide an opportune time for wealth to be circulated within Columbus to prevent the further collapses of any small businesses. A chance to directly support a few dozen creators, artisans and entrepreneurs all at once will come about as the Tiny Canary Indie Design Market returns to Junctionview Studios this weekend.
The sophomore incarnation of Tiny Canary will provide space for the handmade merchandise of approximately 35 to 40 different artists from Central Ohio and its Midwestern outliers to sit under one roof, allowing locals to buy DIY items straight from their merchandisers. Created by Anne Holman and Aline Yamada in 2007, the event came together from a need to offer an intimate alternative to shopping at big-box stores and online outlets.
