The Ultimate Beer & Donut Pairings!

The leaves are starting to fall and the weather is cooling, which means it’s time to celebrate our cold weather comfort foods! Columbus Underground is teaming up with Combustion Brewery for our second Beer and Donut Brunch!

On November 4, we’re hosting a Beer + Donut Brunch at Combustion Brewery and Taproom in Pickerington. Guests will enjoy a sample sized donut from the likes of Amy’s Donuts, Duck Donuts, The Stack, and Tupelo’s Doughnuts. To complement each sugary concoction, attendees will wash it all down with a perfectly paired craft beer from Combustion Brewery.

Start salivating as we share the pairings you can enjoy.

    • Amy’s Donuts: Maple Bacon Donut paired with Combustion’s Now We’re Talkin’ (Double IPA)– This traditional cake donut comes with a maple glaze and is topped with bacon, offering you a sweet and salty delight. Paired with Combustion’s Now We’re Talkin’ – Double IPA (8.9% ABV) which offers a deeply piney and resinous, floral and fruity hop character.
    • Duck Donuts with French Toast Donut paired with Combustion’s Imperial Breakfast Stout (Imperial Coffee Stout) – A vanilla cake donut, topped with maple icing with cinnamon sugar & powdered sugar. Paired with Imperial Breakfast Stout (10.0% ABV), the robust character of the dark roasted and caramel malt in this beer is amplified with a fresh infusion of the Guatemalan coffee beans. Rich and complex notes of dark chocolate and coffee.
    • The Stack’s Chocolate Espresso paired with Combustion’s Antidote (Coffee Blonde Ale) -This buttermilk cake donut is traditionally a half moon shape (sometimes referred to as a ‘stick’ or ‘dunker’) which makes it ideal for dipping in a cup of coffee, so naturally it has the added taste of The Stack’s ultra fresh in-house roasted espresso. The espresso offers a sharp, roasted note that works with the sweetness of the chocolate and the richness and nutmeg flavors of the buttermilk donut to deliver you an instant Sunday morning experience. Paired with Antidote, a coffee infused blonde ale (5.0% ABV), this golden beer has huge coffee notes in the aroma and in flavor, amazingly familiar to a fresh bag of freshly roasted coffee beans.
    • Tupelo’s Brown Butter Glazed Donut paired with Combustion’s Siamese Dream (Pumpkin Ale) – This large old-fashioned doughnut is made with roasted hazelnuts and brown butter and glazed to perfection. Paired with Siamese Dream, this pumpkin ale (5.0% ABV) is crafted by creating a house-made pumpkin and spice extract which is then infused into the beer. If there is such a thing as liquid pumpkin pie, this is it!

A $20 tasting ticket gets you all four Beer and Donut tasting combinations with a handy tasting guide, and a souvenir tasting glass.

Tickets are on sale now and two ticketed times are available 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. Should the event sell out, no additional tickets will be made available at the door.

Guests are invited to enjoy the brewery and taproom before and after the event. Come early for Combustion’s Bloody Mary Bar which will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Sophie’s Pierogies will also be onsite starting at 12:30 p.m. Stick around for a live performance from the Salty Caramels at 4 p.m.

    See you there!
