Local breweries were hit hard by COVID in 2020, but creative pivots have ensued to help businesses weather the storm. While in-person bar foot traffic is understandably down, local breweries have switched to online orders, deliveries, curbside pickup and more grocery/retail options for drinking at home.
When we surveyed our readers and editors at the tail in of 2020, they certainly had all this in mind when they picked Seventh Son as this year’s #1 brewery in Columbus.
Seventh Son has been at or near the top of our best breweries list (as well as other lists around town) ever since their launch in 2013. After expanding in 2018, the bar added new event space and seating capacity, and the brewery increased its production space.
That production space came in handy in 2020 as canned beverages for retail customers have been able to help offset a loss with closures and canceled events. Uniquely, Seventh Son launched a “beer bond” program in December to help drive sales and continue their beer making ventures through the (hopeful) end of the pandemic in 2021.
