Art can take many forms — from visual arts to performing arts, and from music to film to dance. This year, we interviewed and profiled dozens of artists and arts events throughout Columbus, but one local artist made waves on the national stage in a very big way.
Columbus’ own Nina West made her long awaited debut on the 11th season of VH1 reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Locals flocked to viewing parties to cheer on Nina, who landed in sixth place out of the 15 contestants this year.
Back home, Nina not only continued with performances as well as philanthropy. The Nina West Fund at The Columbus Foundation supports multiple LGBTQIA nonprofits and programs that impact lives in Central Ohio in a positive and important way.
