There doesn’t appear to be any end in sight for the local brewery train, which makes it easy for us to determine the best breweries in Columbus. While the abrupt and mysterious closure of Four String Brewing left locals wondering how to cope with the loss of Hilltop Lager, the year also a lot of growth with the expansion and opening of multiple new breweries. When we asked our readers and editors to reflect on the beer that defined the year, their attention was turned to an old schooler that launched way back in 2013 — Wolf’s Ridge Brewing.
This Downtown establishment has been able to effortlessly straddle the line between high quality and accessibility. The brewery features upscale but approachable dining in the front with a low-key alleyway taproom that makes anyone feel at home. Similarly, their beer selection provides a wide range for any palate, from staple IPAs to coffee-infused cream ales.
Wolf’s Ridge also grew its footprint in 2018 with the addition of The Hickory Room, a new Downtown event venue available for private events.
