2019 was a huge year for diners in Columbus. Dozens and dozens of new restaurants were opened (and we also lost a couple of good ones in the process). Generally speaking though, local foodies has more places to eat than ever before.
Our readers and editors selected a variety of fine dining and budget friendly experiences to round out our Top 10 list this year, with Ambrose & Eve landing in the very top spot. This Brewery District restaurant launched on November 27, 2018 — just a bit too late in the year to make in on the radar of voters in last year’s polls. And in addition to winning this year’s restaurant accolade, chefs Catie Randazzo and Matt Heaggans both landed on the Top 10 Chefs of 2019 list as well (in first and seventh place respectively).
“Ambrose & Eve […] places a premium on the notion of inclusivity, with a motto that emphasizes that ‘everyone’ is invited,” stated CU Food Critic Miriam Bowers Abbott in her official review earlier this year. “It seems to live the motto, with approachable options that still manage to be interesting. There are no afterthoughts on the menu. It’s built so that every item exhibits a deliberate, thoughtful preparation.”
