The Space Brings Yoga to East Public

After months of preparation and patience, Josie Schweitzer has opened her yoga studio The Space in a beautiful, modern building located at the rear 687 Parsons Ave.

The Space has clean lines and white walls. There are generously-sized windows letting in natural light and a garage door that can be opened on good weather days. During yoga at their community jam on Sunday, one heard the soothing beats of raindrops on the roof.

The Space is part of the East Public development along Parsons Avenue which includes a veggie-oriented restaurant Comune and features Parsons North Brewing.

The owner of Comune, Brook Maikut, introduced Schweitzer to East Public several months ago. Schweitzer had been looking for spaces and was attracted to a changing neighborhood with exciting businesses such as Two Dollar Radio Headquarters and Alchemy.

The Space offers drop-in yoga classes for all levels, as well as private and group classes. Schweitzer is incorporating ideas she picked up from a “post-doc” of yoga studies in NYC, especially of Katonah yoga. Additionally, The Space plans to hold several workshops including Reiki taught by Berni McKnight.

Schweitzer and her teachers love introducing people to yoga as well as helping experienced yogis deepen their practices. With above average playlists and innovative flows, The Space yoga will help a person transition in many ways.

The Space is at the rear of 687 Parsons Ave. Currently, there is a new student special of three classes for $30. Parking is available on the side streets.
