Trailer Roundup: Power Rangers, Walking Dead, John Wick 2 & More

There’s only a handful of new movie trailers and tv show trailers released this past week, but what we lack in quantity, we make up for in quality. A couple of popular shows are returning soon, and some successful film franchises are getting sequels and reboots — because that’s what Hollywood does. Check out all the trailers below for a sneak peek at what’s coming soon to a large screen and a small screen near you:

    Walking Dead Season 7

AMC has granted Walking Dead fans a quick look at the upcoming premiere of Season 7, which features an extended scene between Rick and Negan, apparently taking place shortly after offing one member of Rick’s group. The mystery of who that is still hangs in the air, but don’t let that keep you from making predictions ahead of the October 23rd season debut.

    Get Out

So, Jordan Peele has written and directed a new film, and it’s not at all what you might think at first. Get Out is a thriller that tells the story of a young interracial couple who sets off to meet the parents for the first time, and things go horribly wrong. The topics of racism and fear hang heavy in the air in America today, and the film looks to hang heavy on those topics, making it a very timely release when it hits theaters on February 17th.

    Iron Fist

Marvel’s next Netflix series Iron Fist got a full trailer treatment this past week, giving us our first full look at how Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell) is tackling the role. This will the be final individual series that sets up the upcoming Defenders series, which will include Fist teaming up with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil. You’ll have to wait until March 17th to watch Iron Fist though.

    Black Mirror: Season 3

British anthology series Black Mirror has been described as a modern take on the Twilight Zone, telling eerie tales centered around technology that isn’t too far removed from what we have in the real world today. Season (or series) three looks to have some strong acting talent including Bryce Dallas Howard, Rashida Jones, Jerome Flynn, Michael Kelly and others. The show streams on Netflix on October 21st.

    John Wick 2

It’s only natural that 2014’s popular film John Wick would get a sequel, where he returns to kick ass and shoot guns. In addition to Keanu in the titular role, this outing also stars Common, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo and Laurence Fishburne. Hits theaters on February 10th.

    Power Rangers

It’s time for what we’ve all been waiting for… the return of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Or have we? It’s been about 20 years since the last film, so why not reboot it? Grab your popcorn and your action figures and head to the theaters on March 24th to check it out.

    Dog Eat Dog

Nicholas Cage returns to his baby-napping ways nearly thirty years after the release of Raising Arizona. This time around, he’s matched with co-star Willem Dafoe who is always great. But you’ll have to wait to see if this will be a hit or miss for Cage when it hits theaters on November 11th.

    Jackie

Last but not least this week, Natalie Portman’s upcoming biopic Jackie follows the story of first lady Jackie Kennedy during the days surrounding the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. The talented Portman certainly looks the part, so this could be a strong awards contender this year when it hits theaters on December 2nd.
