The List: Local Businesses Celebrating Pride 2017
The Pride Parade is back this weekend. The parade and its participants are now almost 50 years away from the Stonewall riots that first spurred the annual bash, making it an event of celebration and remembrance. The riots, taking place on June 28, 1969, were part of an enough-is-enough fight against police harassment and discrimination. This weekend marks another year for the LGBTQ+ community to show that its members won’t be silenced or bullied into the closet.
Columbus businesses are participating in the event in their own ways. Here, CU has compiled a list of restaurants, bars and shops celebrating Pride 2017:
Bareburger Short North
463 N. High St.
Bareburger’s Pride celebration starts with an early opening for brunch on Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. they’ll offer a brunch cocktail special where guests can get two cocktails for $10.95.
The Big Bang
401 N. Front St., #95
Anyone wearing Pride gear will get free admission into the Big Bang bar. Once inside, they’ll have drink specials, including a $2 Pride Shot.
1044 N. High St.
Bodega is kicking off the Pride celebration early with their pre-Pride party tonight, June 15. The event will feature a live DJ, drink specials and giveaways, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Equality Ohio.
Brothers Drake Meadery
26 E. Fifth Ave.
Brothers Drake is hosting its own Pride pre-party, starting Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
541 S. Drexel Ave., Bexley
On Sunday, June 18, Cherbourg Bakery will give away a Pride Pie (while supplies last) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
3335 N. High St.
All day Saturday and Sunday, Dough Mama will offer a special Pride cake, free to all customers.
51 Vine St.
For Friday and Saturday, Granero will sell all champagne and wine bottles for $30.
1014 N. High St.
Julep is having its own champagne and wine special, selling each offering for half its original price.
1105 Pennsylvania Ave.
Katalina’s will be showing their Pride by offering Live Love Pride shirts, Friday through Sunday.
954 N. High St.
Friday through Sunday, Mouton will celebrate Pride with a Tiki Popup Party. A portion of the weekend’s sales will go to Stonewall Columbus.
Nothing Bundt Cakes
1547 Lennox Town Lane
Anyone who walks into Nothing Bundt Cakes sporting Pride colors will get a BOGO Bundtlet. The offer runs on Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Every location (Upper Arlington, Grandview, and the Brewery District)
Nurtur staff will have a rainbow themed dress code all week, along with a service raffle. They’ll be participating the Pride Parade as well, and are donating to Stonewall Columbus.
Ohio Fit Club
371 Maier Place
From Thursday through Saturday, Ohio Fit Club will host a workout-slash-fundraiser benefiting Kaleidoscope and the Pride Parade.
Park Street Cantina
491 Park St.
When the Pride celebration comes to an end, Park Street Cantina will offer a special brunch on Sunday, June 18.
