The Keep at LeVeque Tower, open since spring, will begin a dinner service next Monday, August 28. While the restaurant and bar share an address with the tower, they’re separate entities, and while they’ll offer delivery service to Hotel LeVeque guests, The Keep is intended to offer a unique and public access to the iconic tower.
“I’m a Columbus native, so I remember coming Downtown for Red, White and Boom, and seeing the tower, seeing the lights on it around Christmas, you know, whatever it may be as a child growing up,” said Jonathan Olsen, Executive Chef of The Keep. “I think that’s embedded in my memory and so many other people in Columbus, so for us, we’re trying to pay homage to that.”
The aesthetic and menu portray a 20s twist on a modern French brasserie. The large room across from the liquor bar seats 108 at its tables and 14 at the bar. It’s all surrounded by a dark color palette dimly lit with gas lanterns.
The menu, which will expand to offer breakfast, lunch and brunch after Labor Day weekend, is produced using almost entirely Ohio-sourced ingredients. Quail eggs, from Swainway in Clintonville, go into Olsen’s Steak Tartar dish, one of eight hors d’ oeuvres on the menu. Also available are a few bar snacks, a raw bar, stocked with shrimp, crab and oysters, small plates, soups, salads and main entrees.
The Keep bar is open Sunday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m.
