On Dec. 29, The Columbus Foundation will invite Columbus residents to explore the city for the celebration of its 75th anniversary. A day-long event dubbed “The Big Explore,” free COTA bus rides and admission to six Columbus museums and cultural centers will be available as a “thank you.”
“It is the people of this community who, despite the odds, willed this to become one of the leading community philanthropies in the world,” said Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation, in a press release. “What better way to celebrate our anniversary than to give everyone a chance to explore our community together?”
Participating locations include the Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, Franklin Park Conservatory, National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Ohio History Center, and the Wexner Center for the Arts.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will also offer 75 cent scoops of ice cream at all Columbus locations.
Free admission to participating cultural centers will be available during regular business hours, and free COTA rides will be available from 5 a.m. on Dec. 29 until 1 a.m. on Dec. 30. Rides to cultural centers via COTA is not required to receive free admission.
