The Columbus Foundation announced today that the 24-hour online philanthropic event known as The Big Give would return next month following a successful campaign in 2011 that raised over $8.7 million. The campaign will launch at 11am on September 17th and will benefit up to 600 nonprofits in Central Ohio through the Foundation’s PowerPhilanthropy online giving platform.

“The Big Give is an amazing opportunity for us to come together, show our spirit, and demonstrate again how big-hearted central Ohio is,” said Douglas F. Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation. “Our local nonprofits deserve our support for all they do on a daily basis to improve the lives of residents and strengthen our community. The Big Give is an opportunity to rally for those in need and provide opportunity in our community.”

Additionally, a $1 million bonus pool of funding has been provided by Foundation donors and other community partners, which will amplify donations contributed by the community. Minimum donations start at $20, and the Foundation will cover credit card processing fees so that 100 percent of donation funds will go directly to any of the 600 nonprofits that donors choose to support.
