The Buzz: Amy D and the North Market Apron Gala
It’s that time of the year again. When you bring your imaginative side out to obtain a creative apron for the 16th annual North Market Apron Gala. But a local designer might be able to aid this creative process.
Amy Dalrymple, designer and founder of custom-made clothing company, “Made By AmyD,” has made her way to the Apron Gala, a fundraising event that gives an after hours view of the market with an array of samples of North Market foods, wine, beer, a silent auction, entertainment and more.
“It’s always a busy time for us because people always want special aprons for the apron gala,” she said. “But this is our first time actually having a presence there.”
Amy will also have a booth set up at the North Market, two Saturdays before the Apron Gala, on May 5 and May 12 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. selling her aprons.
You will be able to choose the style and pocket, including her option of a beer pocket, that you want, and they will make it while you’re shopping, she said.
While the “Ohio” logo is one of the most popular designs for her aprons, Amy, who said it all started when her 8th grade Home Ec. teacher had her make an apron for a sewing project, designs aprons with designs that vary from unicorns, to cupcakes, to dogs, she said.
According to Amy, at this booth you will also be able to by your ticket to the Apron Gala, while receiving ten percent off of your apron.
Although she is a fan of the unicorn apron herself, Amy said they have a unique apron that’s been out for about two months now.
“We have an apron that has a magnet in the waistband so you can hang it on the refrigerator,” she said. “It will be something that people can have added if they want.”
The North Market Apron Gala is 7 – 10 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the North Market at 59 Spruce St., Columbus, 43215. Admission is $75.
