The Blue Danube Closes Doors Early

Several weeks ago, The Blue Danube announced that it would be closing its doors on June 17th, after nearly 80 years in business. Early today, the restaurant announced on Facebook that yesterday was actually its final day of operations.

“Due to some extreme, and very unfortunate, circumstances beyond our control, our staff was cut to a number that will be unable to manage operations any further,” states the Facebook post. “Yesterday at 3pm, we closed the kitchen and we don’t look to reopen for regular operations in the future. We may try to open for special parties or events between now and the middle of June, but those details have not been ironed out yet.”

When the news broke several weeks ago about the impending closure, there was additional news that the building’s owner was seeking a new private investor to potentially remodel and reopen the restaurant in the future. Today’s news about the early closure did not address a potential reopening plan.
