Columbus-based businesses join in by offering rewards to anyone who gives during the 24-hour online event

The Big Give has gotten bigger for the community on September 17 and 18, thanks to an increase in contributions to the bonus pool, a boost in nonprofits participating, and rewards offered from local businesses.

Four Columbus businesses are generously offering rewards to those who show their community spirit by participating in The Big Give. Jeniā€™s Splendid Ice Creams, Homage, Piada,Ā andĀ Gateway Film CenterĀ are each offering rewards or discounts to customers who bring in their Big Give receipts for a limited period of time.

ā€œOur businesses are proud to call Columbus home,ā€ said Jeni Britton Bauer, founder of Jeniā€™s. ā€œWe hope our community will come together and give big to support local nonprofits online for 24 hours on September 17 and 18.ā€

The bonus pool has grown to more than $1.1 million thanks to Columbus Foundation donors and community partners. More than 630 nonprofits have completed portraits in PowerPhilanthropyĀ®, The Columbus Foundation online marketplace of local nonprofits, giving the community a wide array of nonprofits to choose from.

    About The Big Give

For 24 hours, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, September 17 through 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday, September 18, the community is invited to show their spirit and support favorite local nonprofits by participating in The Big Give.

VisitĀ www.columbusfoundation.org and make an online contribution of $20 or more to one or more of the local nonprofits in PowerPhilanthropy. A bonus pool of more than $1.1 million will amplify all donations made during the event on a pro rata basis. Credit card fees will be covered by the Foundation so that 100 percent of gifts will go to the nonprofit selected.
