The Columbus Foundation announced on Friday night at Highball that a new philanthropic event called “The Big Give” would be debuting on November 10th. This new 24-hour community-wide event will provide a record $1 million in matching funds to be distributed to 600 different local nonprofit organizations.
“The Big Give is an amazing opportunity for us to come together and show how big hearted our community is,” said Doug Kridler, president and CEO of the Columbus Foundation. “It comes at a critical time for our community’s nonprofits, which have been working hard to meet increased demand for services in the aftermath of the recession. Our local nonprofits deserve our support for all they do to strengthen our community.”
The 600 local nonprofits that are participating in The Big Give have created informational profiles on The Columbus Foundation’s PowerPhilanthropy online giving marketplace. These nonprofits serve a variety of causes including the local arts community, human services, environmental causes, education and more.
The Big Give will begin at 11am on November 10th and end at 11am on November 11th. Anyone can participate by making a minimum $20 donation online with a credit card directly to the nonprofit of their choice, and all participants will receive a pro-rated match.
