What happens when the entire city of Columbus comes together to set aside a full 24 hours for donating to nonprofits? The answer is The Big Give.
Launched in 2011 by The Columbus Foundation, thisĀ biennial event has already raisedĀ $19.1 million for 569 Central Ohio nonprofits during its first two iterations. Today, leaders at the Foundation have announced that the event will return for a third time running from 10am on Tuesday, May 12th to 10am on Wednesday, May 13th.
“The Big Give is an amazing opportunity for our community to come together to give, show our spirit, and demonstrate how big-hearted central Ohio is,” said Doug Kridler, president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation. “Our local nonprofits deserve our support for all they do to strengthen our community. The Big Give is a community rally that helps those in need and supports many other causes in central Ohio.”
In addition to the dollars donated by the community, The Columbus Foundation has brought together many of its own donors and partners to contribute an additional $1.3 million to the cause, which will match individual donations on aĀ pro rata basis. That means that every donation made during this 24 hour philanthropic marathon will be boosted in size for the recipient nonprofit organizations. Additionally, all credit card processing feeds are 100% covered, which means that 100% of all donations go to charity.
