The address of 205 North Fifth Street has long been host to Downtown nightlife (most recently known as Traffik and Q Bar), but the space is getting a fresh restart this weekend with the grand opening of The Avalon — a new danceclub, lounge, bar and restaurant establishment.
“This multifunctional bar and lounge provides Columbus with a new-wave concept that couples an inviting bar and lounge with a separate live entertainment space,” says Jena Dyke, Manager at The Avalon. “Having this separate space provides guests the luxury of a quaint, undisturbed lounge experience with the option of the high energy amusement of a dance club.”
The bar will feature a variety of imports, domestics and craft beers in addition to speciality cocktails that include martinis, margaritas and mojitos. The food menu offers diners a choice of flatbreads, sliders and appetizers.
“Having noticed the need for an outlet catering to Columbus’s young professional crowd that differed from the average club scene, Avalon was the answer,” adds Dyke. “Having extensive experience and knowledge of the Columbus bar and nightlife scene provides us with the perfect match for what the city needs and what Avalon wants to offer.”
Avalon will feature dance club nights on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with a rotation of popular local DJs including George Brazil and Mister Shifter and national acts including Brooklyn-based Columbus-native DJ/producer Titonton Duvante. Tuesday nights will offer Karaoke while Wednesdays feature live music.
“The musical selections will range from Top 40 to EDM to Techno to Hip Hop to House,” says Dyke. “Even a little Disco and Dubstep.”
This Friday’s grand opening party will feature resident DJs Mister Shifter ad Midislut, an extended happy hour and a special giveaway by Milk Bar boutique. The event is 21 and up with no cover.
Avalon will be open Monday through Saturday from 4pm to 2:30am with kitchen hours through 11pm.
